KUALA LUMPUR: The exact allocation for Tamil schools will be announced soon, says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
He said there had been complaints and unhappiness from the Indian community as many thought that there was no allocation for Tamil schools under Budget 2021.

“Since the time of the Barisan Nasional (administration), even during Pakatan Harapan, Tamil schools would get an allocation of between RM50mil and RM100mil.
“But this time, some noticed that there was no such thing in Budget 2021.null
“I brought the matter up with the Finance and Education Ministers,” Saravanan told a press conference in Parliament on Monday (Nov 9).
Saravanan said that the Finance and Education Ministries had merely changed their approach, assuring that there was allocation for Tamil schools.
“Previously, they would announce separately on the allocation (for Tamil schools) but now, they have lumped this into the allocation for the Education Ministry.
“I was told that the Education Minister will announce the details soon so I hope the Indian community will be patient,” he said.
In Budget 2021 tabled last Friday (Nov 6), the Education Ministry received the largest allocation at RM50.4bil or 15.6% of the total government expenditure.
