MIC Launches Utavi app to help Malaysian communities!

Kuala Lumpur, May 18 – The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has launched the MIC Utavi app today to provide foodand grocery assistance to the poor or underprivileged in the Malaysian communities that have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.

‘Utavi’, which means ‘help’ in Tamil aims to support some of the most financially-vulnerable communities in the country.

Most economic activities have halted in Malaysia since the implementation of Movement Control Order on March 18. Utavi is a progressive web app (PWA) designed to enable users to request for food and grocery relief packs through its official portal, https://utavi.com.my.

Registrations begin today. MIC will coordinate with sponsors and partners for the delivery of the relief packs to the qualified beneficiaries who registered with Utavi.

MIC is also looking for more organisations and individuals who wish to contribute as partners to this cause, either through donation in the form of food and essential supplies, or by becoming a delivery partner.

Interested parties can get in touch with MIC via the app. The MIC team will then coordinate with relevant partners in delivering these relief packs.

Tan Sri Vigneswaran Sanasee, President of MIC said, “We note that the vulnerable communities in the country who have been affected due to the lockdown are in dire need of help. We hope that through this initiative, we would be able to generate food and grocery which will provide some much-needed relief to families within various communities nationwide.

MIC also assures that personal information of users will only be used for the purpose of facilitation and will not be shared or provided to any other party as intended in the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. Registration for beneficiaries and sponsors can be made by logging in to https://utavi.com.my
