First and foremost, we reaffirm a mission that took root over four decades ago, a mission to ensure that quality education is no longer a privilege for the few, but an inalienable right to be enjoyed by all Malaysians, transcending every community.

At this year’s MIED Cheque Presentation Ceremony, a total of RM18 million has been disbursed in scholarships to 726 AIMST University students. These figures are far more than mere statistics, they represent futures in the making, families being uplifted, and a community that continues to ascend through the transformative power of education.

Since 1984, more than 14,000 students have benefitted from RM216 million in educational assistance through MIED. This enduring legacy, founded by the late Tun S. Samy Vellu, remains an unwavering pillar of progress for our society. His vision forged a sustainable educational ecosystem, MIED, TAFE College, and AIMST University, which continues to serve generation after generation.

In this regard, we wish to record our sincere appreciation to YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for his steadfast support, which has enabled this vital grant to be sustained over the past two years. His commitment has been profoundly meaningful, especially to students from lower-income families, ensuring they are not constrained by financial burdens in their pursuit of knowledge.

As Chairman of MIED and President of MIC, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri SA Vigneswaran remain deeply committed to broadening access to higher education, cutting across all communities and economic strata. We are now intensifying investments in STEM, TVET, and grassroots youth empowerment, for Malaysia’s future must be anchored in innovation, skills, and equitable opportunities for all.

MIED is more than an institution, it is a solemn promise. A promise that no deserving student, Malay, Chinese, Indian, or any other shall ever be left behind. No matter the circumstances, education must always stand as the pillar of hope and the bedrock of societal advancement.
